It’s a rule – never shop hungry.  How that rule may also apply to relationships in your life.  That’s this week’s Tune Up Tuesday – a little nugget you can use to tune up relationships.

So, why do we not shop hungry?  Because hunger will distract you.  When hunger is screaming for your attention, money management or healthy eating habits become less urgent in terms of priority.  It’s the same way in our relationships.  We get distracted by the urgent… by the demands of work, parenting, projects at home, etc – and all of that stuff keeping us busy and distracted…can make us lose sight of what really matters.

The busy parent is rarely home to spend time with the kids.  Or we all have the friend who says “we should get together,” but then they never commit to a day.

So, here’s the tune up – make a list of important relationships that you want to invest more in.  Then make time in your schedule to invest – relationally.  Plan a lunch with a friend, a date night with your significant other, or have a dinner with your kids, where you sit at the table together and serve all their favorite foods.  Hunger makes you less intentional at the grocery.  And the demands of life can make you less intentional in your relationships.  With this awareness, though… that doesn’t have to happen to you.
