Avoiding The Flu
I missed a day at work. That is rare. However, I had no choice because I had the flu and didn’t want to give it to anyone else. Also, I felt awful.
How did I get it? I probably got it from touching a doorknob or grocery cart that some person with the flu had touched.
So, while lying in bed afraid to even sip water, I started thinking about what I could do to never get the flu again.
Here’s what I found …
Eat a wide variety of fresh, wholesome foods packed with powerful vitamins and minerals. Vitamins A, B6, C and E and the minerals zinc, iron, copper and selenium are critical for maintaining immunity.
Make sure that your diet consists of a rainbow of fruits and veggies.
Garlic please. Garlic is known for its antibacterial, antiviral and antifungal properties and can prevent infections from taking hold and spreading. A daily serving of two raw garlic cloves is what we need. To avoid offensive garlic breath, cut the cloves into smaller pieces and swallow them with water or herbal tea . Follow with a spring of parsley. My friend, George, suggests taking the garlic in the middle of a meal.
A Mushroom a day has been found to increase the production and activity of white blood cell which will fight off infection.
Black Tea … A recent Harvard University study confirmed that people who drank five cups of black tea a day for two weeks had ten times higher levels of the cold and virus fighting chemical, interferon, than those who did not drink tea. The researchers suspect that green tea has the same effect.
Exercising for thirty to sixty minutes daily can give your immune system the extra kick to kick the flu bug away before it can latch on to you.
Get at least eight hours of sleep each night.
I hope these suggestions help you to keep the flu away from your family. If you have any suggestions for natural ways to avoid getting the flu, please share with us here.
And … I wish you good health.
