According to the TODAY Show, audiologists say it comes down to the variations in how people perceive sound and the differences in the frequencies that your ear picks up. Experts say the original word was likely Laurel, but factors like low quality recording, speakers being used, and how loud you play it all effects how your ears perceive the sound.
