Eric Garnes: Preview of the Indiana Flower & Patio Show!
Posted 3/15/2010 8:55:00 AM

From special guest blogger, Eric Garnes:

I had a chance to check out this year’s Indiana Flower & Patio Show, the theme is A Storybook Garden. Once you step inside the West Pavilion, you know it's spring and about 75 degrees.  All through the show, you will see gardens in a storybook setting.  For example, there is one my favorites is Mc Elligot’s Pool, featuring a little boy with a small fish at the end of his fishing pole and a touch of Dr. Seuss throughout the garden.

Another favorite was Harry Potter Wizarding Wonders; this featured the Hogwarts train running around a tree in the middle of the garden. I stood watching that train and looking at the garden for at least 5 minutes.

Other exhibits featured, Little House on The Prairie, will take you back to the TV show and what it may have been like to live on the prairie.  This is a very comfortable and inviting setting.  Something family and friends will definitely enjoy.

There are so many more garden designs than I can talk about here, which both you and your kids will enjoy.  There is Alice in Wonderland, with the big tree in the middle. This garden design is sure spark conversation for family, friends and neighbors and is a great place to relax after a busy day.

Take a look the some of my photos from the show and see many of the different gardens. Also many of the gardens feature fire pits and outdoor kitchens for use year round. Better yet…. check it out for yourself now through the 21st at the Indiana State Fairgrounds West Pavilion Hall. Get some great ideas for your home; you’ll be glad you did.
