Inspiring Fitness Women to Follow on Instagram

Apps, personal trainers, OrangeTheory, CrossFit, boot camps, at-home programs… there are endless options for you to grow in your fitness journey.

I’m a simple gym person who likes to workout at my own pace lifting weights, but gym intimidation is a real thing that I had to overcome when I first started going. You’re surrounded by people who look so comfortable & confident and you feel out of place… but guess what? They had to start somewhere too. Know what else is great? Everyone is focusing on themselves and their journey—unless you don't follow gym etiquette and re-rack your weights or you're not giving someone their space, they probably won't even pay attention to what you're doing ha!

What helped me get over my gym intimidation? Women with Instagram fitness accounts.

Yup! I just started following a bunch of women who posted their workouts (a lot of them are local or are from Indiana, by the way!). I saved their posts in my Instagram Bookmarks and referenced them when I was at the gym so I didn't feel lost or unsure of what to do next.

TIP: Create different Collections in your Instagram Saved section—Legs, Back, Shoulders, Abs, Chest, etc. That way when you’re at the gym you can quickly go to that section and pick a workout to do.

You know what’s most important? YOU’RE THERE. You’re prioritizing your health and that’s the ultimate goal.

There are A TON of inspiring fit women on Instagram, but these are the handful that helped me (and still do)! They all have a story about why they started lifting and prioritizing fitness. I hope they inspire yours too!

Ashlen Sandefur [@ashlensandefur]

Sami B [@leanmachine21]

She's is a nurse but she decided to follow her passion in fitness full time by creating her own fitness clothing line, P’tula, and it took off! From personal experience, I highly recommend her leggings. They’re the softest I’ve ever owned, they’re squat-proof, and some even have side pockets for your phone! Follow @ptulaactive for her clothing, and her personal account above for the BEST leg workouts (with commentary explaining each move)!

SOUND ON 🔉 for additional commentary on this amazing single leg quadset that I really want you all to do in your next lower body workout !! ⠀ ⠀ I love love LOVE single leg moves. Why? Because my dominating leg doesn’t overpower or overcompensate for my weaker leg (yep we all have one stronger than the other). These help you really delve into the mind/muscle connection because you’re focusing on one leg instead of two!! ⠀15 REPS EACH LEG & 5 SETS EACH CLIP . 💜💜 ⠀ Give these moves a try and listen to the commentary for best movement, best body mechanics and other tips. And pleaseee don’t forget to DOUBLE TAP 💕 and let me know if you enjoyed this video.. ⠀ ⠀ Outfit is by @ptulaactive. Both items dropping very soon!!! 💜💜 #ptulaactive #ptula #motivate #inspire #workouts #fitnessmotivation #gymmotivation #homeworkout

One thing I’ve taken away from my workouts over the past several years is that motivation might not always be there. Rest/take a break when needed, but in some instances you have to rely solely on the reality of the situation to get you grooving. You HAVE to keep your purpose(s) in the forefront of your mind and have realistic expectations of what it takes to fulfill that purpose. . We’re so obsessed with an end goal and immediate gratification that we forget the grit. The grit is the hard work, the consistency and SHOWING UP for yourself. THAT should remain your focus, and on days when you’re not feeling motivated, dig into that grit. . If you go into a workout telling yourself it’s gonna suck, well, it probably will. 🤷🏻‍♀️ Go into a workout telling yourself you’re going to push past your negative thoughts and embrace your strength + resilience, and you just might have the best workout you’ve had in awhile. . On that note, grab a barbell, some DB’s and let’s build that back + sprinkle 🍩 in some biceps too💪🏼 aim for 3 sets 10-12 reps (each side for unilateral movements) . Wide grip lat pulldown Landmine rows Single arm landmines Bent over barbell rows Underhand pulldown Plate curls - hammer/inner Cable hammers . Online 💻 training + coaching 💪🏼 link in profile . Workout fueled by @pescience 🦄 HIGH VOLUME (megmo saves you dough on any PES or @mandabees_headband order xo) 🤗 Bra and leggings are @Lululemon 🍋

Didn't follow our lifting plan. Ended up just playing around. And you know what? That's OKAY. • Goals are great. Plans are awesome. But some days it's not about setting PR's and pushing yourself...it's about building relationships and filling your cup. • We are so thankful for our relationship and our shared passion for fitness. Not only is it good for our health, but it has been so great for our relationship and our marriage. Thanks for following our sappy (and happy) journey of fitness ups and downs y'all. Don't forget that you are loved. • • • #love #faith #goals #plans #pr #fit #fitness #igfit #instafit #fitfam #fitspio #fitcouple #coupleswholift #bodybuilding #fitgirl #dadbod #fitparents #parents #relationships ---------- Oh! And thank you to the other couples who share the same passions and build others up through social media, too! We tagged some of you as encouragement to keep doing it!
