How Close Should You Live to Your In-Laws?

Buffer Zone Against the Dreaded Pop-In

When you are looking to move to a new place there are probably a lot of things to consider - price, neighborhood, schools, etc..  How about how close you'll be living to your parents or in-laws?  If you ever watched the TV show "Everybody Loves Raymond" you know the insane stress Ray and Deborah experienced living next door to Ray's parents.  In real life, it's not always that funny.

A recent poll asked people what is the best distance to live from your parents and in-laws.  What they determined was anywhere to 15-45 minutes was the sweet spot for a good "buffer zone."  Close enough for it to be convenient to see each other, but enough distance to reduce the dreaded "we were just in the neighborhood" pop-in visit from your in-laws.
