Saying “thank you” is more than just good manners, but can be beneficial to you in many ways.

Numerous studies show that being grateful and expressing gratitude is good for our mental and emotional health, but did you know saying “thank you” is a great way to get more help.

For instance, in one experiment they found that people are twice as likely to help you or further assist you, if you express gratitude to them for their help. Meaning, when you show appreciation to others, they are willing to do more for you.

So why do people want to help more when they are thanked? It wasn’t because it was an ego boost, but rather they felt needed and valued.

Expressing gratitude is a win-win situation in so many ways. So do what your parents always encouraged you to do – make sure you always say, “thank you.”
